The Rotary Club of York-North is proud to support Junior Achievement’s BizTown with a $5,000 grant to purchase a much-needed new refrigerator for its distribution center.
BizTown gives fifth- and sixth-grade students the opportunity to put what they’ve learned in the classroom into action. After completing 16 lessons covering financial literacy, citizenship, check writing, elections, and more, students spend a day running their own town.
Every student has a job, businesses have CEOs and CFOs, students earn paychecks, and they use their earnings to purchase goods and services from their fellow BizTown citizens. It’s a hands-on experience that helps young people build financial, leadership, and life skills.
York North’s partnership with Junior Achievement continues to grow. This will be our fifth year participating in a Rotary BizTown Day, which began with York- North and has expanded to include York -East, Uptown York, and York-Downtown.
York North will be participating in another great Rotary BizTown Day on January 15!
Supporting young people today helps them become the leaders of tomorrow—and is another way York North is working to Create Lasting Impact.
