For the Rotary Club of York-North, Cousler Park stands as a powerful example of what it means to Create Lasting Impact.
The club’s involvement at the park began with an ambitious anniversary project: helping create a full-size baseball field that could serve the community for generations. York-North Rotarians committed significant financial support to the project and worked in cooperation with the township and other community partners to turn the vision into reality. Over the years, the field has provided a place for countless young people to play baseball while also supporting leagues, tournaments and community activities.
But York-North’s commitment to Cousler Park did not end when the ball field was completed. Rotarians continued to invest their time, resources and volunteer efforts in the park. Members helped repaint buildings, refurbish dugouts, replace benches, install a windscreen, plant trees and shrubs, and assist with special events.
Another important chapter was the development of the Inspiring Hope Playground, an accessible playground designed so children of different physical and developmental abilities could play together. Supported by major financial contributions, community partners and many volunteers, the playground became another lasting addition to the park and the families it serves.
York-North has also helped create places of remembrance within the park, including a tree and memorial bench honoring club members who passed away. These additions serve as lasting reminders of Rotarians whose friendship and service helped shape our club.
Taken together, these projects represent much more than individual donations or volunteer days. They demonstrate what can happen when Rotary develops a relationship with its community and remains committed over many years.
The baseball field, playground, trees, benches and other improvements at Cousler Park are a visible legacy of York-North Rotary—one that continues to serve our community today and demonstrates what it truly means to Create Lasting Impact.
