District Governor Mary Brunski inspired York North members as she shared her upbringing with a single mother, financial challenges, early work at a local library, and a pivotal financial aid advisor.  Mary encouraged education in all forms (trade, apprenticeship, or college) and urged Rotarians to actively tell their club’s impact stories.

Our District Governor spoke passionately about the efforts of Rotary to eradicate Rotary polio.  Rotary’s audacious work with the World Health Organization began in the 1980s, initially vaccinating 6 million children in the Philippines.  Last year, 3 billion children were vaccinated across 122 countries. Cases declined from 350,000 in the mid-1980s to 49 last year.  Members were encouraged to support polio efforts with donations, honoring fallen health workers.

Mary reminded members that District 7390’s committees are available for finance and membership support.  Our district also has leadership development offerings including the Rotary Leadership Institute and District Learning Assemblies.

Mary shared the Ted Lasso “goldfish” metaphor: a 10-second memory helps let go of mistakes and frustrations quickly.   Members were encouraged to apply the mindset to daily interactions and setbacks.

Rotary Foundation recognition pins were presented to Shane and David Patterson acknowledging $1,000 donations to support Rotary’s work. Cortney Buechler, who joined six months ago, received her first $1,000 giving recognition and Gary LaTulippe was also recognized.
