At its annual changing of the guard ceremony, the York East Rotary Club celebrated a year of service and leadership as outgoing President Greg Kern officially passed the gavel to incoming President Kris Pollack. The event, held on June 25, 2025, marked a moment of reflection, recognition, and renewed commitment to Rotary's motto: Service Above Self. Greg Kern was applauded for his dedicated leadership throughout the 2024–2025 Rotary year. Under his guidance, the club strengthened its membership and the local impact through service projects, scholarships, and fundraising efforts such as the club’s successful golf outing, which raised over $20,000 for local charities. Kern thanked fellow Rotarians for their teamwork and passion, and expressed confidence in the club’s continued momentum under Pollack’s leadership. Incoming President Kris Pollack shared her enthusiasm and goals for the year ahead, emphasizing youth engagement, community partnerships, and member involvement. “This club has such a strong foundation,” she said. “I’m honored to build on that and lead us into another impactful year.”

 

In addition to the change in leadership, the club honored five of its members with Paul Harris Fellow Awards, one of Rotary International’s highest recognitions. These awards, named after Rotary’s founder, celebrate individuals who have made significant contributions to The Rotary Foundation and demonstrated a strong commitment to humanitarian service. The honored members Todd King, Jeff Kile, Karen Comery, Sandy Grahman and Wendy Keesee were recognized for their ongoing generosity and active participation in service projects both locally and globally. Their contributions support programs that promote peace, fight disease, provide clean water, support education, and grow local economies around the world.
