It has been a busy few weeks in District 7390!
Rotarians from six districts across Pennsylvania and New Jersey came together at Citizens Bank Park for the Phillies Strike Out Hunger & Polio Game, where RI President-Elect Larry Lunsford threw out the first pitch. It was a great win and a night of fellowship and fun, which serves as a reminder that some of the best parts of Rotary happen when we simply have opportunities to connect with each other.
I also had the opportunity to visit our District 7390 Passport Club via Zoom. Passport Clubs are our reminder that there isn’t just one way to “do Rotary.” Different meeting formats, schedules, projects, and traditions allow us to create Rotary experiences that work for different people and different stages of life. And this feels especially appropriate during Rotary’s Membership and New Club Development Month.
When we talk about membership, it’s easy to focus on numbers: How many members did we gain? How many did we lose? But behind every number is a person.
So, this week, I’d challenge each of us to think about these three things:
Who are we inviting? Who are we welcoming? Who are we giving a reason to stay?
Growing Rotary isn’t just the responsibility of our Membership Committee or our club presidents. Every one of us can invite someone to a service project, bring a friend to a meeting, introduce ourselves to a newer member, or simply ask someone, “Have you ever thought about Rotary?”
Our District grows one relationship, one invitation, and one meaningful Rotary experience at a time.
Here are some upcoming meaningful experiences I would love for you to be a part of:
- Save the Date for our Rotary Leadership Institute on Saturday, 10/10 at Central Penn College! This is only offered in our area once per year and is the best place to meet fellow leaders, learn more about Rotary, and enhance your leadership skills. You will not want to miss this!
- Registration is open for this year’s Foundation Dinner at the Country Club of York on Saturday, 11/7 5:30-8:00pm. Join us as we celebrate our clubs generous giving to the Foundation, and the impactful projects clubs have been able to complete through District Club Grants and Global Grants thanks to our generous giving. We’ll also hear from Keynote Speaker, Rick White, President of the Atlantic League. I hear the Lancaster Barnstormers and York Revolution will be making some special trips ahead of our dinner to get the word out!
- Finally, if you’re looking for more opportunities to lead, here are a few different ways you can get involved:
- Serve on the District Conference Committee and help us plan 2027’s event!
- We are still seeking an Impact Tour/Book Drive Social Media Point of Contact AND Official Photographer.
- Reach out to learn more about our District Committees where you can share your talents, grow your leadership, and create lasting impact.
