One of the highlights of this past week was welcoming home our 2025–26 Outbound Youth Exchange students. We had the opportunity to hear from four students of our Outbound students as they reflected on their year abroad, and I continue to be amazed by the confidence, resilience, and global perspective they gain through this incredible program. It's one thing to hear about Youth Exchange and read about Youth Exchange—it's another to hear firsthand how it changes lives and continues our peacebuilding efforts worldwide.
If you know a high school student who is curious about the world and looking for a life-changing opportunity, applications for the 2027–28 Youth Exchange program will be opening in August. Keep an eye on our district website for details, and help us spread the word!
This week also marked the beginning of my official club visits, and I had the pleasure of spending an evening with the Rotary Club of Harrisburg Keystone. Thank you to everyone for such a warm welcome! Every club has its own unique story, and I was inspired to learn more about the meaningful work this club is doing—especially their partnerships with local schools and the impact they're making in the lives of young people. I can't wait to continue visiting clubs throughout the district and sharing these stories along the way.
Looking ahead, I'd love to see many of you at Rotary Means Business next Thursday in York. If you haven't registered yet, you'll find all the details in this week's newsletter and on our district website.
As we move into August, don't forget about the Strike Out Hunger and End Polio Phillies game on August 6th—it's always a great evening of fellowship when we’re supporting two important causes…and of course, the Philadelphia Phillies!
And one more date to put on your calendar now: Saturday, October 10th is our annual Rotary Leadership Institute at Central Penn College. RLI was my gateway into learning more about Rotary about five years ago, and it truly changed how I viewed leadership and the opportunities available through Rotary International. Whether you're a new Rotarian or a longtime member, there's something valuable for everyone. Registration information will be coming soon, but go ahead and save the morning of October 10th.
Don’t forget to start collecting those Early Literacy Books for our District-Wide Early Literacy Book Drive. Our goal is to collect over 1700 books to donate to 7 different early childhood programs; one in each of our counties served. November 22nd is our collection celebration date so start collecting books now!
