Greetings from the RI Convention in Calgary! Rotary’s fiscal year ends on June 30. Rotary’s goal is to raise $50 million to take full advantage of the Gates Foundation matching gift of 2 for 1.
As of June 9, 2025, Afghanistan has reported 2 cases of wild polio virus type 1 this calendar year. Pakistan has reported 11 cases. We are “this close” to ending the scourge of polio. We can’t stop now!
PLEASE help Rotary meet its goal. If you give $100 and pledge to give $100 a year until polio is eliminated, you’ll become a member of the PolioPlus Society. Where else can you get a 2 for 1 match of your donation, and help fulfill Rotary’s promise to the children of the world?!
Does your company ever bring in Interns? We have several members across the District that work for local Colleges/Universities and think this might be a good resource for our members. If you offer school year internships or just summer internships, paid or unpaid, please contact DGE Mary Brunski (mbtexaspa@gmail.com) and we'll work on getting the information to the right person to connect you and students. Whether it's an internship for accounting or for digital marketing, most businesses can use extra hands and students can use the experience!

Two passionate educators from Northeastern Middle School, David Raymond and Eric Gimbi Jr., brought laughter, curiosity, and a touch of colonial flair to the East York Rotary Club this week as they presented their innovative YouTube channel, Bobble Head George. To make American history engaging, relatable, and fun for junior high students—and it's working. The duo shared how their project began as a creative way to connect with students during the pandemic. “We wanted to bring history to life—literally,” Raymond said. “Instead of dry lectures and dusty textbooks, we turned the founding fathers into characters with personality and humor.” Bobble Head George is a YouTube channel featuring short, entertaining videos that reimagine historical moments with comedic reenactments, quirky props, and the ever-present bobble head George Washington as the show’s mascot and silent star. Topics range from the Revolutionary War and the Constitution to lesser-known historical events, all tied together with clever storytelling and an infectious sense of fun. “We’re history nerds with a camera,” Gimbi joked. “And our students love it. We even get fan mail from parents and teachers across the country.” The channel’s popularity has grown steadily, with thousands of subscribers tuning in regularly. But more importantly, the teachers emphasized how the channel has helped students see history not just as a subject—but as a story. “Kids remember stories better than dates,” they said. “If we can get them to laugh and learn at the same time, we’ve done our job.” Rotarians applauded the teachers’ creativity and commitment to education, praising the pair for using modern tools to foster a love of learning in today’s tech-savvy youth. Bobble Head George is a nonprofit organization and is supported by contributions.
For anyone curious about what George Washington would think of TikTok—or what really happened during the Boston Tea Party—Bobble Head George might just be the history lesson you didn’t know you needed. You can find their videos by searching “Bobble Head George” on YouTube.
