A Message from the Governor

Dear Rotarians:

Just hit 20 clubs visited – halfway through!  It’s been fun, heartwarming, and an adventure I’m glad to be on. Two of the drives have been so beautiful. Getting to the Denver-Ephrata and Perry County clubs took me through lovely tree canopies and the eye-catching colors that PA offers in the fall. The service projects that clubs have presented are amazing. The fellowship and compassion I see in my home club is repeating across our seven counties. The impact that the clubs are having continually create ripples that turn into waves of positive change in our area. Rotary is truly a force for good.

Based on challenges I’m hearing from the clubs, I’ll be working with Fred Gellert, PDG and our District Learning Chair, to continue to bring helpful information to club presidents during our monthly meetings. Last weeks presentation of Club Creation to help clubs clarify their vision and mission, recruit new members and spread the word of Rotary was a great starting point for clubs that are looking to rejuvenate their members and look at ways to continue to “Unite for Good”, this year’s theme. A link to the recording of that meeting has been sent to Presidents and Membership Chairs and is posted on the District website.

If there is anything you need help with, question about Rotary, Zone or what resources you can tap into, please don’t hesitate to reach out. If you don’t hear back from me within one day, ping me again (lots of emails, not ignoring you, just catching up!).

Rotary World Polio Day

October 24, 2025 – Together, We End Polio

District 7390 Clubs are asked to go post the World Polio Day Video available here on your Facebook and Instagram page throughout the month of October.

Why World Polio Day Matters

  • Polio is a paralyzing and potentially deadly disease.
  • It is incurable, but preventable through vaccination.
  • Thanks to Rotary and our partners, cases have been reduced by 99.9% since 1988.

Rotary’s Leadership

  • Launched PolioPlus in 1985 – the first global initiative to eradicate polio.
  • $2.1 billion raised and millions of volunteer hours donated.
  • Partners with WHO, UNICEF, CDC, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, and GPEI.

Where We Stand Today

  • Polio remains endemic in only 2 countries: Afghanistan and Pakistan.
  • Until it is gone everywhere, children everywhere remain at risk.
  • Rotary’s motto: “We’re This Close to Ending Polio.”
Help END POLIO NOW!!

York Clubs Band Together to Plant Trees

On Saturday, October 4, five members of the Preserve Planet Earth Committee (York), along with six members of the Eastern York County Club and three members of the York East Rotary Club came together to plant 12 trees. The trees were of different native varieties to South Central PA. The trees were planted in two copses of six trees each at the Native Lands Park in eastern York County. The park is 190 acres of meadowland which is largely devoid of trees. The trees will bring shade to hikers, create habitat for more birds and animals and improve the environment. The planting went well and now the hope is to discourage deer from destroying the trees and being able to keep the trees watered. York County Parks and the three clubs collectively underwrote the cost of the trees. W&S Landscaping supplied the trees and donated stakes, netting and mulch.
