The Rotary Zone Summit brings together leaders from across paired Zones 28 and 32 under the theme “Better Together.” District Governors, Governors-Elect, Governors-Nominee, and District Chairs met to share ideas, learn best practices, and gain new resources from Rotary International. District 7390 had an outstanding presence with 9 representatives! The Summit emphasized the power of partnerships — across clubs, districts, and by tapping into the unique skills of ALL Rotarians — while encouraging us to share our passion for the amazing work we do. We returned with fresh tools and ideas to build a more dynamic, engaged district and to showcase the impact of Rotary in our local communities and beyond. Rotary District 7390 is proud to announce that Connie Spark, District 7390 Past District Governor and member of YorkEast Rotary, had been selected as a recipient of the Donald MacRae Peace Award.
This award honors individuals who have advanced international understanding, goodwill, and peace through peacemaking efforts or humanitarian activity of international significance.
The award is named for Halifax Rotarian Donald MacRae, who, at the Rotary International Convention in 1918, boldly proposed that Rotary become an agent for promoting goodwill and peace among nations — the very first time Rotary’s international vision was publicly expressed.
Please join us in congratulating PDG Connie for carrying forward this legacy of peacebuilding and service above self. Her work reminds us that when we live Rotary’s values, we create a more hopeful, united world. We are so fortunate to have her inspirational leadership in our District.
The Rotary Leadership Institute is an opportunity to meet with other Rotarians, share experiences, and learn new skills to take back to your club. You don't have to be in the leadership chain to benefit from this institute. When Can I Attend RLI? - Saturday, October 4, 2025 from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Central Penn College (600 Valley Road, Summerdale, PA 17093).
What is the Cost to attend RLI? - Rotary Clubs should pay for their members to attend RLI. The cost is $125 per Rotarian to attend.
What is RLI? - A leadership and development program to strengthen Rotary Clubs through education, collaboration, and the exchange of ideas among its future leaders. A three-part curriculum facilitated by experienced, trained faculty members engaging participants through open discussion, problem solving and creative role-play.
What will I learn at RLI? - More about Rotary, The Rotary Foundation, Membership, Ethics, Service Projects, Communications, Strategic Planning and Analysis. You’ll also make new friends and enjoy fellowship and networking opportunities.

Passport Members and several guests gained unique insights (and a few pounds when being treated to pizza and personal sized bundt cakes) recently when visiting Keystone Correctional Services. Member Terry Davis treated us to dinner while sharing the background of starting his business. He followed it up by giving us a tour of the facility so we could see firsthand how both inside and outside communities work together to help create successful people.
Since we were together in person, it was the perfect time for President, Karen Anthony, to award Gary and Marie Davis with their Paul Harris with 2 rubies pins.

The East York Rotary Club proudly recognized two long-standing members, Jim Walters and Roger Dick, with the designation of Honorary Membership, one of the highest honors a Rotarian can receive.
To be considered for honorary membership, a Rotarian must have been an active member for at least three years, demonstrated strong attendance, served in a major club leadership role, contributed to committees or district-level service, been recognized as a Paul Harris Fellow, and participated in at least three major club projects. Both Walters and Dick exceeded these requirements many times over during their decades of service.
Jim Walters has been a member of Rotary for 38 years. He served as Club President twice, first in 1992–93 and again in 2010–11. Walters and his family were deeply involved in the Rotary Youth Exchange program, hosting students from the Netherlands, Spain, and Madrid, while his own daughter, Sara Jayune, studied abroad in Madrid through the same program. Walters contributed to numerous committees, including Classification and Club Service, and chaired the Club Foundation for more than a decade. A Paul Harris Fellow, Major Donor, and Endowment Donor, he also helped lead fundraising efforts, including the popular Holleran’s picnic event. His dedication to service has been a cornerstone of the East York Rotary Club for nearly four decades.
Roger Dick joined Rotary 33 years ago and has been a driving force behind many of the club’s programs and outreach efforts. He has held key leadership roles as Membership Chair, Foundation Chair, Club Service Chair, and International Mission Coordinator. A Paul Harris Fellow, Major Donor, and Endowment Donor, Dick has also spearheaded projects supporting Students of the Month, speaker arrangements, community service at The Daily Bread, and work at the Gold Star Garden, among many others. His leadership and hands-on participation reflect his enduring commitment to Rotary’s motto of “Service Above Self.”
Club members expressed gratitude and admiration as Walters and Dick were officially awarded honorary status, recognizing their lifetime of dedication and contributions to Rotary, the local community, and international service.

Thirty-five years have passed since the founding of the Harrisburg Peace Garden. Now an iconic symbol of the city and the region, it has served as a gift to the community and a call for peace and good will since 1990. Now it’s time again to celebrate the spirit that led Jim and Sandy Jones and Physicians for Social Responsibility to establish the Garden with the city’s blessing, and the people responsible for its endurance.
This year we will celebrate the memory and contributions of John Judson, MD, a critical figure in providing for the the Foundation’s partnership with the Rotary Club of Harrisburg. A surgeon, John practiced general surgery for several years before his residency in cardio-thoracic surgery. He taught and practiced in various places around the country before settling in Harrisburg. He had a special love of Haiti, where he served three months of his residency. John and his wife, Ann Marie, lived there for two years when he served as Director of Surgery at Haiti’s Hospital Albert Schweitzer, and he returned many times to volunteer his services to Haiti’s neediest patients.
A member of Rotary for many years, he served as President of the Rotary Club of Harrisburg and later as District Governor. Also a member of the local chapter of Physicians for Social Responsibility, he was instrumental in procuring Rotary’s partnership in handling aspects of the Peace Garden’s long-term funding and volunteerism. An avid pilot, he also flew Angel Flights for people needing transportation for hospital care. Married to Ann Marie Judson and father to their five children, he continued his volunteerism at Bethany Village, where he started the Ecology team and helped residents with their technology needs.
Please join us in remembering John’s dedication to peace through his medical mission work and his efforts on behalf of the Peace Garden. Proceeds will support the work of the Harrisburg Peace Garden Association.
