This is a critical year for the polio eradication program. Coming off the lowest case count in history in 2017, we begin the new year with the momentum to make polio eradication a reality. In Pakistan and Afghanistan, where a period of typically lower polio transmission is starting, the program is seizing a prime opportunity for progress by strengthening efforts to reach vulnerable children and track polio in the environment.
